You were taught from birth that your body is a loving machine, that you have a heart that knows nothing other than how to break pieces of itself off for other people. Since you first learned how to give breath to the written word, you’ve been honest and soft, you’ve been all hands and hearts, and refused to be anything less. You hold onto people so fiercely you don’t know how to unclench your fists. This is your heart and it is a loving machine.
But my heart was never like that.
I’m not hands on skin and intertwined limbs and tangled bed sheets. I’m not confessions in 5am texts. I am distant and I need you to stretch out arms to have any chance of reaching me. There’s a reason the heart beats behind a ribcage.
So you can be all eyes and hands and feelings. You can be your affective self. As long as you don’t expect the same from me. You can stop apologizing for loving every saint and sinner you walk by if I can stop apologizing for choosing to keep them at arm’s length. You can choose to be honest if you let me have my secrets.
I find comfort in my barriers, or at least in controlling who sees beyond them. I don’t like sharing my secrets, my feelings, my everything. That’s something I can’t do. But maybe that’s okay. Maybe I can be me and you can be you. And maybe we can find a way to complement each other.
You can have your honesty and your softness, and I think you should. I think the world needs people like you.
If you had to choose between world peace or going to Hogwarts what house would you go to?

Today I was at work and this like 13 year old kid came in with a snk jacket so I was all omg I really like your jacket and his face like lit up and he smiled and turned to his friend and was all “she gets it! She gets it!” and his friend just sighed and kinda shook his head and I think that perfectly describes the friendship between an anime watcher and a non-anime watcher
